4Media iPod to PC Transfer is an application that makes it easy to manage your iPod library on a PC. As you may know, iPods work hand in hand with iTunes. But the process of iTunes syncing can be a headache for some people. I have lately grew tired of it. This application lets you bypass iTunes altogether when all you want to do is transfer music to or from the device.
With a supported iPod connected, the app will show the device's music, movies, playlists and photos. You can play or view them using the built-in viewer, and content can be transferred from the iPod to a folder on your computer, to another connected device, or to an iTunes library. Content can also be transferred to the iPod.
When you first run 4Media iPod to PC Transfer, it will ask you to download iTunes, but that is not essential. Some of the app's features won't work without it, but the core functionality will be available.
A lot has changed in this application since the last reviewed version, 2.0. New versions of iTunes, iOS and Windows itself have been released, and support for them has been timely added. Back then, only one device could be detected at a time, and now you can have multiple ones connected and you can even transfer data between them on the fly. Preview features for audio, video, and photos have been added. New devices are now working with the app, too. Although the graphical user interface has seen some changes, it looks very similar.
